Hey
So not really important to me, but i'm just curious. Has anyone found an
accessible mud client for mac? or even just a way to successfully mud with a
mac?
No, but I will follow this board closely. I too would like to mud on a mac.
Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but there is really no solid and practical solution for mudding on the mac.
A big part of the reason why isdue to the way voiceover gives you tts feedback.
Speach dispatcher will always speak new text as it comes in. For an example of this, think of VO stopping a read of a mail subject line to say "one roe added."
Trying to mud under those conditions is annoying at best.
Your next problem is that most mud clients rely on using the shell environment. Voiceover doesn't really function as well as it could here, so you'll have a hard time doing things like reviewing text to check the spelling of a name or item.
When I was on mac, gaming and mudding were the only 2 things I found more convenient on windows, and that's why.
Yeah, it sucks for the mac users. This is I think the big reason my husband installed a vm.
A combination of VO navigation settings, client gags where appropriate and terminal prefs can help with this. That won't solve the problem entirely, but it does make it a lot nicer. I do mud some on a 2011 Macbook Air. :)
HTH
What client do you use?
Yeah, but even these kinds of things didn't really help much with a lot of the muds I played. the speech dispatcher issue meant that any really fast pvp was out, because you'd simply not be able to get all the info you need.
So the Mudder application isn't available in the U.S. app store. I tried to find it
and couldn't. I went on Applevis and looked it up, clicked the app store link and
got a window saying this app is not available in your country.
So, again, to those who say it's doable, what mud client?
I use Terminal frequently so have learned how to get around VoiceOver issues
with this.
If you say it works, even if not to your specification, what app are you able to
use? Mudder was the only one the AppleVis people had.
